CARBON TROUBLE
Carbon
markets around the world are in serious trouble after a spate of
scandals, fraud and outright criminal theft. And recently the integrety
of the highest level credits have been thrown into doubt as 'recycled'
credits (Certified Emission Reduction unitis or CERs) were sold by an
Eastern European government.
The nascent New Zealand and
Australian markets face tough challenges with the support for carbon
cap-and-trade around the world dissolving. The chances of an American
cap-and-trade system seem farcical in light of the economic crisis.
